The Real Reason For The Grey Squirrel Cull!

You may be wondering why it has taken so long between the last post and this post.

I've been learning something new and the SIB ACN had babies. I wanted to go see them, but I discovered that I don't want to go outside anymore. The air smells bad, the air is wet, the bugs bite; and the ground is messy, smelly, dirty, and sticks to my hands. I just don't like it.

As I was looking and reading over old blog posts, I discovered something very interesting:

The British Government Wants To Cull Grey Squirrels Because They Are Drug Addicts AND American!

The first report was dated 8 October 2005 by Mirror.co.uk and then blogged by SIBlog here:

SQUIRRELS are going nuts for crack cocaine - digging up secret stashes hidden by drugs dealers.

The bushy-tailed creatures use their powerful sense of smell to detect the Class A drugs, buried in garden flower beds by dealers to avoid being caught by police.

Now animal lovers fear Britain's grey squirrel population could become addicted.

That wasn't too terribly interesting by itself, though it is certainly cause for concern. I helped Officer Fox post it, so I know the entry and report. It became interesting when I saw this report dated Sunday, 22 January 2006, 03:58 GMT from the BBC and then blogged by SIBlog here:

A massive cull of grey squirrels is to take place across Britain to try to halt declining numbers of the endangered native red population.

Coincidence? I think not! Because there is no natural logic behind these British culls, as I noted in the SIBlog entry:

First of all, there is no such thing as a red squirrel. The Executive Branch has declared them non-existent.

Second, how can you call grey squirrels inferior enough to cull when the Humans plainly acknowledge that those "other" squirrels are weaker? Who is inferior? And then blaming the grey squirrels for a disease that CLEARLY by its very NAME applies to ALL squirrels, not just the "undesirables". It's not called "Grey Squirrelpox", now is it? It sounds like they are trying to find excuses to kill you while saving the obviously inferior "other" squirrels.

That lack of natural logic has bothered me a great bit since I first read about it. This morning, I came across this news article from Yahoo! News:

Washington (Reuters) - Despite three decades of upbeat reports on battles won in the war on drugs, cocaine, heroin and marijuana are as easily available as ever and experts say the United States has yet to develop a strategy that works.

By some estimates, the United States consumes more than 60 percent of the world's illicit drugs, far out of proportion with its 4.5 percent of the world's population. It is by far the biggest market for cocaine, a drug that yields staggering profits for traffickers.

[...]

Despite the ready availability of cocaine, the White House's ONDCP reported: "Our ... overseas counterdrug efforts have slowly constricted the pipeline that brings cocaine to the United States."

The British blame the Americans for their crack squirrel problem, so they are in a drug war with America and treating their grey squirrel population as "enemy combatants"!

Your British cousins didn't start this war! They are being targeted because their ancestors came from America and because they are drug addicts! They're being rounded up and executed! They're being fed poisonous food! They're being spied on! Meanwhile, the clearly inferior "other" squirrels are being aided by another overseas government sympathetic to the British in the war on drugs. From the BBC:

Scotland's red squirrel population could be extinct by the end of the century, unless urgent action is taken, a conference has heard.

There is particular concern about the threat from deadly Squirrel Pox.

The disease has not yet been found in Scotland's red squirrels but five grey squirrels in the south of Scotland were recently found to be carrying the virus.

They are using the threat of disease as a cover for their actions!

Could it happen here in America?

NEVER!

Grey squirrels come from America, so why would the Americans kill their own squirrels to retaliate against the actions of the British?

And since there is no such thing as a Red Squirrel in America (the Executive Branch of the squirrel government has declared them non-existent), who would they retaliate against? Here's something interesting from the Daily Mail:

An end to the British beef export ban is expected to be announced - exactly 10 years since it was imposed because of mad cow disease.

Since the worldwide trade blockade was declared in March 1996, British beef farmers have lost global trade worth an estimated £675 million.

Now, after years of intensive efforts to eradicate BSE and establish the toughest meat monitoring controls, the Government and the farming industry is expecting the news it has long awaited.

Note how the threat of disease was used in this case to justify a ban against British cows. Do you know what that means?

America will retaliate by culling cows!

Isn't that a relief?

As long as you continue to live in America and do not turn into a cow, you will be safe from culls.

As far as your British cousins are concerned, the squirrel government doesn't interfere with the affairs of other governments. They won't make an exception in this case because it would mean letting your squirrels die in a war you didn't start. You have teeth. You have nuts. You have cuteness. You do NOT have weapons or armor like the Humans do.

So be glad that you live in America where grey squirrels are still free from culls! You're the lucky ones.

Hunters, on the other hand...still a problem. Sorry.
